"Zamfara is suffering from a triple jeopardy", says writer.

A writer, Chris Ngwodo, has clearly stated that Zamfara State is suffering from a triple jeopardy.
He said"It is one of Nigeria's poorest States, and since 1999 has been led by a procession of venal cads that have excelled only at manipulating religious sensibilities. See Ahmed Sani  Bogus Sharia regimes and Yari's sermon on meningitis.

"It is geographically, literally and figuratively on the fringes of the national consciousness. Like most border states (like Borno and Yobe), it is on the peripheral of government attention. Borno and Yobe also had a long history of suffering cross-border banditry before Boko Haram.

"Zamfara is also largely rural, and as in other rural areas, there is scant presence of law enforcement assets. It has urge forested areas that have become ungoverned spaces. Remember the over 1000 lead poisoning death a few years due to the activities of illegal gold miners.

"The state is also suffering from being part of Buhari's northwestern electoral base. There appears to be a conspiracy of silence by most of the local political elites to downplay or not highlight the Zamfara killings as to avoid embarrassing the President. It is costing lives.

"With killings continuing unabated in Zamfara despite the deployment of the army and air force, it is clear that a nascent insurgency is unfolding with banditry morphing into something more insidious. When airstrikes are needed to quell  crime, then it is no longer mere criminality.

Chris finally said "Zamfara needs more urgent attention and action to prevent the situation from degenerating as was the case years ago at the onset of North East crisis. Zamfara can be saved. Media focus must be relentless to compel government action."

Following the nascent insurgency, the Presidency has strongly condemned the killing of innocent Nigerians in Birnin Magaji community in Tsafe Local Government Area and Magami community in Faru District of Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara State, regarding the attack by suspected armed bandits.
