Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, has emphasized the desperate attempt of the opposition party, All Progressive Congress, APC, on the hauling of Senator Melaye of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Saraki said "This desperation to haul Senator Melaye in is beyond normal. This same Inspector General of Police, IGP, who refused to honour the Senate invitation to give information on the security situation in the country and rushed to court to seek protection of his rights is now violating the right of other people.
"Of has gone without notice that Senator Melaye is a member of the opposition. We cannot remember any member of the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC, being treated in this manner.
"Even the All Progressive Congress, APC, member who allegedly led thugs to forcefully seize the maze while the Senate was in session, in the full glare of the television cameras, is still roaming the streets free without prosecution."
It was reported that the police siege is presently on Senator Melaye, as his Abuja residence is filled with the Nigerian Police.
This siege has caused a serious unrest for the senator who is on the wanted list of the Police.
