Manchester United has reported given Defender, Chris Smalling, a new contract following his excellent performance and his passion for the club.
The defender has been faced with mixed atmosphere at the Old Trafford Stadium as he had saved United from some unpleasant moments and has also contributed to the laxity of the Premier league giants.
With the United board refusal to sign a defender during the last summer transfer window, with Harry Maguire, a primary target of the Old Trafford faithful but the refusal to pay such an exorbitant amount of money for a defender of his calibre.
With the faith the club has in the England defender, he has given a three year contract, that will see him stay at the club till 2022.
After signing the three year contract, Smalling said "I am delighted to continue the my journey with Manchester United. It is an honour to play for this club and I want to take the opportunity to thank all staff associated with it over the last 9 seasons, my team mates past and present, and the fans who continue to show support for the squad game in game out.
"While this a very proud day for me and my family, focus is very much on tomorrow and on the busy schedule of games over the festive period. Roll on super Sunday."
He finally said "It's a great feeling that the manager and the club back me, I am looking forward to repaying them !"
Smalling is expected to feature in today's clash with Arch rivals, Liverpool, at the Anfield Stadium.
Let's get this straight - instead of giving the likes of De Gea + Martial better contracts for them to stay here, we're giving deadwood players new contracts so they can steal a wage of 100k+ which could be used to pay world class players like De Gea + Martial? No ambition.Jones will get a new deal next then the laurel n hardy will continue for another 5 years— Mike Ramsbottom (@Rambo0782) December 15, 2018

congrats Smalling, not United quality but gives his 💯 everytime he plays unlike some other players that only care about dancing on social media.— Arden (@ArdentlyZb) December 15, 2018
Now this is a United fan. Smalling may not be United to the core but you can always see he gives his best regardless. Some cry for chances and when they get them, we all know how they hand Watford wins— The Duke of Bunyore (@OmwamiManoah) December 15, 2018
