Ahmadu Bello University speaks and advises following the death of her students through suicide.

The management of Ahmadu Bello University, ABU, has broken her silence and advised the young ones against suicidal attempt following the death of Aisha Omolola at her apartment in Samaru, Zaria.

In retrospect to the saddening even witnessed, the management said "We all have two lives. The second life starts the moment we realize we have only one. Suicide doesn't end the chances of life getting worse, it eliminates the possibility of it ever getting any better.

"Most things in life tend to be difficult before they get easy. To anyone out there who is hurting, it is not sign of weakness to ask for help, it is a sign of strength. What then is the point of having friends and loved ones if you cannot put out your problem to them.

"The longer we dwell in misfortune, the greater is there power to harm us. Dear young people, no matter the hardship, frustration, loneliness or depression you are going through, suicide should never be an option. Speak to someone for help! Value your life.

"Yes it hurts to be misunderstood but please endeavor to reach out to people. Suicide isn't necessary, only inflicting pain on oneself but it has the tendency of putting the people around you in severe trauma, pain and shock. It may even get to people that do not know you.

"Parents should also try as much as they can to make their family their friends. Having a friendly lifestyle with your child will go a long way in helping and swerving them off depression and suicide urges. Appreciate your children, applaud them and show them you care.

"And last to the general public, family and friends of people, please do not ignore issues concerning mental health. If someone listens, stretches out a hand, or whispers a word of encouragement, or attempts to understand a person, extraordinary things begin to happen."

We hope God have mercy on the dead and grant her eternal rest at His feet.
