The President, Muhammadu Buhari is reportedly arrived in Sokoto, to pay a condolence visit to the State government and the families of former President, Alhaji Shehu Usman Shagari, following his demise.
It was confirmed that Shehu Shagari died on Friday after a brief illness which was undisclosed, at the National Hospital, in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
President Buhari became his [Shagari] successor in 1983 after his regime as the Head of State.
Present at the former President residence in Sokoto are Kebbi State Governor, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar Badugu, and other top dignitaries from Aso Rock.
Prayers were made by some Islamic Clerics, with the Presidency,State Governors and other top dignitaries for the deceased for perfect peace and eternal rest on Allah's chest.
President Buhari was seen paying his last respect while writing on the condolence book.
The general public has criticized the family of late Alhaji Shehu Usman Shagari, that they shouldn't have allowed the Presidency into their residence, as it was reported that President Buhari was one of those planned coup against the late former President.
No doubts, Alhaji Shehu Shagari will be sorely missed by Nigerians for his tremendous works and memorable qualities.
