It was recently confirmed that Mr Adamu Mohammed, has been appointed as the new Inspector General of Police, following the retirement of the former boss, Ibrahim Idris.
Mr Adamu is expected to sail the ship of the Nigerian Police through the next few years.
For the new Inspector to be a success as he assumes office as the new boss, here are the criteria expected of the new Police boss.
•Order immediate review of all cases handled by the police, speedily prosecute those with evidence, dismiss the flimsy ones, this will free up police time and negative press.
•Prioritise Police Welfare.
•Take an audit of number of Police acting as private security guards for every tom, dick and Oluomo. Recall them to protecting the community rather than individuals.
•Work with States with regards to regulating community policing, vigilantes model them partners to the police.
•Avoid the mistake of your former boss, talk less and act more.
•Equip police information centre to be able to receive information, clarify complaints and disseminate same in a very timely manner.
•Police should not be bullied based on SM trends so long they do their job.

•Engage all stakeholders.
•Prioritise reducing corruption and extortion by bad eggs in Police.
•Lobby for mass recruitment to stem the short falls
•Honour officers who die in the line of duty
•Be guided by the law.
