The Economic and Financial Crime Commission, EFCC, has hereby debunked the news that the Commission has apprehended the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Onnoghen, following his trial.
The Chief Justice of Nigeria was recently accused of declaring a falsehood regarding his assets. An accusation that the CJN has admitted he made mistake while declaring his real assets.
Speculation surrounding Onnoghen has sprang the news of the Commission's apprehension of Chief Justice of Nigeria.
But the Commission was quick to debunk the news and also denied inviting him for interrogation through its Twitter handle.
EFCC said "The attention of the EFCC has been drawn to the falsehood being spreading on the social media that the EFCC has arrested the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen.
"This is a figment of the imagination of the purveyors of the fake news.
"For the record, the EFCC never went to the house of the CJN for arrest neither was invitation extended to him."
Walter Onnoghen also confirmed that the Commission neither arrested nor invited him for interrogation.
The fresh accusation was orchestrated by the Presidency and the ruling Party.
Meanwhile, the Chief Justice has been advised to resign to avoid the Judiciary from suffering from a great disrepute.
