Dortmund young wing wizard and United State of America International, Christian Pulisic has reportedly signed for Premier league giants, Chelsea, for a fee believed to be in a region of £58m [€64m].
Pulisic's contract in Dortmund was due to expire in the summer, although the club would have been entitled to a hefty compensation package.
Pulisic will spend the rest of the campaign on loan with Dortmund before linking up with the Blues ahead of the 2019/20 season.
The USA international, who plays as a right winger, or on the left or behind a striker, said: ‘'In summer I move on to Chelsea and to a new competition, the English Premier League. It’s a privilege to have signed for such a legendary club and I look forward to working hard towards being a contributor to their team of world class players.’'
Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia added: ‘We are delighted to have signed one of Europe’s most sought-after young players. Christian has shown his quality during a fantastic spell in Germany and at just 20.
we believe he has the potential to become an important Chelsea player for many years to come. We look forward to welcoming him to Stamford Bridge in the summer and wish him and Dortmund every success for the remainder of the season.’
"It was always Christian's dream to play in the Premier League. That certainly has to do with his American background, and as a result we were unable to extend his contract, " says BVB sporting director Michael Zorc.
"Against this background, we have decided to accept an extremely lucrative bid by Chelsea, given the low contract maturity.
"Christian Pulisic is a character perfect player. I am sure that in the coming months he will do everything in his power to bring his high quality to the team and to achieve his sporting goals with his team-mates Borussia Dortmund."
Pulisic had been linked strongly with a reunion with Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool, but the German boss reportedly opted against a move for the 20-year-old.
Pulisic scored his first Bundesliga goal for Borussia Dortmund on April 17, opening the scoring in a 3–0 home win against Hamburger SV. It made him the youngest non-German and fourth-youngest player to score a goal in the Bundesliga, at just 17 years and 212 days old.
The young gun has scored 15 goals in 115 games for Dortmund since making his debut as a teenager back in 2016. Pulisic has netted three times in 18 games for the Bundesliga outfit so far this season.
