Governor Nasir Ahmad elrufai is attending the Joint UN-National Peace Committee (NPC) support to State level Peaceful 2019  Elections Dialogue in collaboration with INEC and the Kaduna State Peace Commission, holding at the Asaa Pyramid Hotel, Kaduna. Governor Nasir Ahmad elrufai has reiterated the Kaduna State Government’s commitment to peaceful and issue based campaigns and also free and fair elections. Olisa, SAN condemns new Chief Justice for lending himself to constitution infraction.

Dr. Olisa Agbakoda has reportedly condemned the newly sworn in Chief Justice of Nigeria, Hon. Justice Tanko Mohammed, for lending himself to constitution infraction. He said "On 25th of January 2019, Buhari pursuant to an exparte order of the Code of the Conduct Tribunal purportedly suspended the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Honourable Justice Walter Samuel Nkanu Onnoghnen and purportedly swore in Hon. Osinbajo arrives Ondo State for the launching of Trademoni

Vice President Prof. Osinbajo has arrived in Ondo State for the launching of TraderMoni for petty traders in the state.  He was received at the Akure Airport by Ondo Deputy Governor, Hon. Agboola Ajayi, Ondo_APC Chairman, Engr. Ade Adetimehin with members of the State Executive Council. Osinbajo at the palace of Osemawe of Ondo Kingdom, Oba (Dr.) Victor Adesimbo Ademefun Kiladejo, Jilo III. He was accompanied by the deputy Governor of Ondo State, Hon. Presidential campaigns continue in Abia and IMO States as the Presidency commissions a power project.

Report: ASUU receives Certificate of operation NUPEMGI from the National Pension Commission.

Academic Staff Union of University, ASUU,  has received the certificate of operation for Nigerian University Pension Management Company, NUPEMCO, from the National Pension Commission. This was announced that the Federal Government has met one of our major demands. While congratulating all our members for this landmark achievement of the union, we also thank them for their patience as the struggle continues. "We are still consulting with our chapters across the country. There are promises that government made and we are trying to consult with the various university chapters on the options before the union. "By the time we are fully aware of what is left of our demands from what the government is offering, then we will know what steps to take, even as negotiations with the government continues. ASUU is to be involved in another round of meeting with the government within the week, where we expect a positive outcome.

NDLEA siezes 851,000 kilograms of tramadol in Ondo state

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), has recorded a major haul of 851.027 kilogrammes of psychotropic substances. They are chemical drugs that change brain function and result in alteration in perception, mood, consciousness, cognition or behaviour. Ondo state commander of the agency, Haruna Gagara, who gave the figure while speaking with newsmen in Akure, the state capital, said the dangerous drugs were uncovered during phase 1 of its “Operation Ijo Oloogbo” in the state. He said during an operation at Ipele forest in Owo Local Government area of the state, it also confiscated 30,618 tonnes of cannabis sativa, five hectares of Indian Hemp farm and also recovered three single barrel guns and one pump action gun during the raid. The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, in Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti, has condemned the removal of the institution’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Samuel Oye Bandele, by Governor Kayode Fayemi. The vice chancellor of EKSU was arbitrarily removed. The removal is hereby condemned in strong terms and in its entirety. The university is an autonomous institution with extant rules and governing regulations. The appointment and removal of a VC has procedures under the laws of the university. In order to prevent unnecessary crisis and administrative  due process should be followed in governing of the university. ASUU-EKSU chairman, Prof. Olufayo Olu-Olu, in Ado-Ekiti on Sunday said Fayemi’s action did not follow due process. Olu-Olu said the governor lacked the powers to remove the VC... Strike continues: "there are grey areas to be resolved," ASUU President speaks.

The national president of Academic Staff Union of Universities, Prof Biodun Ogunyemi, says there are grey areas to be resolved. Following a heated meeting between the Federal Government and the Union, it has been confirmed that meeting has hit a dead end, as their refusal to reach consensus. ”We have not suspended the strike, discussion will continue at a later date. We are going back to for further consultation with our members,” say the ASUU President. The strike will be suspended, when the Federal Government addresses the issue of revitalisation. Revitalization is central to our academic work. Unless that area is addressed, our members will still have issues. We are not demanding for N50 billion. We are saying that the minimum that the Federal Government can release to reactivate revitalization fund is ₦50 billion. With the demand of the Union, the strike remains indefinitely going on until the Federal Government reaches agreement with the Union

VP Osinbajo arrives Ikeja City Mall in Lagos.

Vice President, Osinbajo, has  arrives at Ikeja City Mall, Lagos State. Premier league star to stay at the club amid reported interest from other clubs.

Meeting update: ASUU and Federal Government to meet today

The Academic Staff Union of Universities ASUU and the Federal Government are to resume talks today 21st January, 2019. Following the recent  saga between the ASUU and the Federal Government as a result of the disagreement between the two parties. This disagreement has surfaced from the deal less than the expectations being offered by the Federal Government to the Union. The Union further accused the Federal Government for not fulfilling its promise. The Union has deemed it fit and are determined to get their right from the Federal Government before the election as the strike may be taken with levity by the Federal Government  after the election. Time and venue for the meeting is yet to be confirmed but the information will be communicated as soon as possible. The general public hope to get  a fruitful response when the two parties meet today.

66 year old woman missing in Lagos.

It was reported not quite long that a 66 year old woman, Rebecca Nyamedor, on Onasanya street Surulere, Lagos. Rebecca was last seen yesterday, 17 January, 2019, and has since then disappeared into the thin air. Her families have searched for her but all their efforts were futile. The missing woman can speak English, Yoruba and Ewe languages. It has been publicly reported to call the following lines if you have useful information; 07064171642, 08092070287. Osinbajo, Akeredolu seek support for Presidency

Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo and Ondo State governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, SAN, have appealed to the people of Ifon and Elegbeka in Ose Local government to troop out enmasse to vote for President Buhari in the February 16 poll.  Osinbajo and Akeredolu made the appeal at the Palace of  olufon of ifon as part of the house to house campaign of the Vice President to Ondo State. Court grants controversial Senator bail on health conditions.

Kogi State Senator, Dino Melaye, has been granted bail on health grounds, following his previous apprehension by the Police. The Senator after his apprehension, fell sick, and was immediately rushed to the military hospital for proper treatment. He was later transfered to another hospital for a better treatment at a specialist hospital. Justice Yusuf Halilu, in his ruling has ordered Dino to produce three sureties including the Clark of the National Assembly who must produce a written undertaking to produce him in court. Dino is expected to go his home and have some rest with good medical attentions in order to recover from his ill health. The Senator is expected to return to court when he is fully fit as the Federal Government continues its investigations on the Senator's case.

Chinese clubs battle for 29 year old star player, as talks begin with Club.

Chinese club,  Guangzhou Evergrande, is presently in talks to sign West Ham Forward, Marko Arnautovic.
