9 reasons why you should not work in a Private Sector

The private sector is the part of the economy, sometimes referred to as the citizen sector, which is run by private individuals or groups, usually as a means of enterprise for profit, and is not controlled by the State. (Areas of the economy controlled by the state are referred to as the Public Sector).

The private sector employs most of the workforce in some countries. In private sector, activities are guided by the motive to earn money.

In Nigeria, private sectors have been known to be organizations that  employ individuals that they seem  qualified and competent for the progress of the organization.

Private sectors have  constraints on their own part and also on the part of the employee which will be briefly discussed shortly.

Reasons why you should not work in a private sector

1.) Failure to pay a calendar month salary: This has been  a bane to many employees, most especially in Private schools where the  proprietors count days to pay their employees their salaries starting from the exact day the employees started work.

2.) Low salary scale:  This has become an anthem of many employees whereby they are offered "take it or leave it" salaries because of the economic state of the nation and the employers know one (employee)  has no other means of livelihood.

3.) Disregard for  Higher Qualifications: Most private sectors like many school owners who do not  have what an employee has, and by so doing the employers will not care about the qualifications of his members of staff.

Such employer tends to pay every staff same amount regardless of one's qualification. This has been a thorn on the flesh of the employees with higher degrees.

4.) Extra work, no good pay:  This is common to the private sectors whereby they use their employees even on public  holidays and weekends only for the employees to be given an amount that is not worth it.

5.) It is not reliable : Reliability of jobs under private sectors is very low that employees are retrenched untimely.

6.) Not good enough for family man: The huge  financial responsibility  will make difficult for family man to cope with only private sectors job.

7.) No time to plan your life:   Working under a private sectors can be hectic and time consuming that the employees will not have time for their personal life and their family. There won't be time for unnecessary gestures among other staff of the private sectors.

8.) Restriction to engaging in other businesses:  Employees are often restricted from venturing into another personal business because of the workload on the employee's desk.

9.) Not pensionable: This is the most annoying and disheartening part of the private sectors. After a long service and unlimited loyalty to the private organization, the employee will end up not getting a dime as pension.
