Norwegian Nobel Committee decides to award the 2018 Nobel Peace Price to two campaigners against rape.
The Norwegian Nobel Committee has decided to award the Nobel Peace Price 2018 to Denis Mukwege and Nadia Murad, for their efforts to end the use of sexual violence as a weapon of war and armed conflict.
Denis Mukwege is a Gynaecological Surgeon, founder and medical director of Panzi Hospital in the United States, the President of Panzi foundation and the Sakharov Price winner in 2014.
Denis Mukwege is also known to be from the Republic of Congo in Africa.
His basic principle is that "justice is everyone's business". The 2018 Peace Laureate is the foremost, most unifying symbol, both nationally and internationally, of the struggle to end sex violence in war and armed conflict.
Nadia Murad is a survivor of Genocide/human trafficking, UN Goodwill Ambassador and the author of the last girl.
Nadia Murad is from Iraq and she is the first Iraqi to win the Nobel Peace Price.
The last year winners, the international campaign to abolish Nuclear weapon (ICAN) have congratulated Dr. Denis Mukwege and Nadia Murad saying " both laureates thoroughly deserve this honour through their incredible work to address sexual violence in conflict
Dr. Denis was congratulated by the general public on his selfless effort make peace.
