Troops clash with armed Militia men in Benue State

At the early hours of today, troops deployed in operation "WHIRL STROKE"  on 4th August,2018 while on clearance operation along Gbajimba-Akor axis in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State encountered the armed Militia men with large herds of cattle.

During the clash, the troops dislodged the armed Militia men from their camp following a superior fire power.

Unspecified number of armed  Militia men have been suspected to have been killed by the troops while others escaped into the bush with gun shot wounds.

Efforts are on to get other fleeing members of the armed Militia men by the troops. Items recovered include:

1.) One AK 47 rifle.

2.) One AK 47 rifle magazine.

3.) 60 rounds of 6.2mm special ammunition

4.) 5 motorcycles

Members of the public have been advised to report any suspicious movements or activities in their area to the law enforcement agents for prompt action.

The number of armed Militia men killed are yet to be known.
