As the summer transfer window is just few hours from being shut. Manchester United have been struggling to get their summer transfer targets as they meet Leicester City to kick start the 2018/2019 Premier league season.
United has been shut of quality defenders and it has spelt great doom on the team as a whole during the last campaign. The available defenders are not fit to be slotted in first eleven as they are inexperienced and error prone which cost United many chances to go close to the defending Champions, Manchester City, during last season.
Several top class defenders have linked with Manchester United, which are Tottenham Toby Alderwiereld, Leicester Harry Maguire, Bayern Munich Jerome Boateng ,Athletico Madrid Jose Gimenez and Diego Godin.
Toby Alderwiereld is valued around £55m by Tottenham but United see the price tag as being to expensive for a 29 year old player.
Leicester City Harry Maguire is valued around £75m and this has been the demand of the Foxes so as to scare potential suitors. But United seemed serious about the signature of Maguire with an advantage of 4 years difference between he (Harry) and Alderwiereld.
Jerome Boateng, Diego Godin, and Jose Gimenez have all rejected Manchester United to sign new contracts and also wanted another Clubs instead of United.
The trending news is that United are preparing to submit a huge bid to tempt the Foxes to sell one of their most priced assets, Harry Maguire.
But the Foxes' manager Claude Puel has made stance known at the Press Conference he (Harry) is likely to join Manchester United.
Puel said"I can confirm he is joining Manchester but only for couple of hours on Friday night (for the match).
"I am very happy to keep Harry of course and all our best players. I want to keep all our best players for this season to keep a good ambition.
"We lost Mahrez, he was a valuable player to us but was important to keep all our best players and have additions for the squad.
"Harry came back with a smile. I am happy about his attitude in general. He has a good mentality and good spirit. It was important for him to remain with us and keep strong momentum for this season. I am happy to keep him."
The manager was asked about the intending world record bid for the Leicester City defender, a bid that will outweigh the initial record fee of £75m paid by Liverpool for Van Dijk.
The manager said"We have had good speaking with Harry recently and with the Chairman also and we cannot change our things just before a game and just before the new season, it is not possible for us."
