"I didn't do it to prove my fitness to anybody", President Buhari speaks about his 800 metre walk in Daura, Katsina state.
Following the eight hundred metre walk done by President Buhari during an enthusiastic reception given to him by people at his constituency in Daura, Katsina state, during sallah celebrations.
After the sallah celebrations, there has been speculations that President Buhari eight hundred metre walk was to show his fitness for the second term as the President of Nigeria.
But Buhari has made it clear on his Twitter account that the speculations were wrong, that he only did it so that the crowd will be able to see him as he was previously inside a tinted car.
President Buhari said"Much has been said about my walk in Daura, a few days ago. I didn't do it to prove my fitness to anyone. The people of my constituency came out in large number to see me, and the car in which I was had a tinted window. So I decided to come out of the car so that people would see me.
"People who know me know that I am not given to chasing a cheap political point. The crowd in Daura were not seeing me, so I came out of the car so that they could see me. I didn't and don't need to walk to convince anyone about my health and the decision to contest for a second term.
"I remain very greatful to the people for their enthusiastic reception. And let me say that we will not be distracted by politicking or anything else. The security and welfare of all Nigerians, Young, old, female, male, remain our priority.
"We are working to make it easier for traders and farmers to access loans. The bank of industry has recently launched a collateral free scheme for traders. And I have directed the Ministry of Agriculture and Central Bank of Nigeria to review the loan insurance process for our small holder farmers.
Buhari finally said"For our Agricultural policy to succeed, we must be able to reach small farm holders with loans without collateral.
Collateral is always a problem with small holder farmers. The Federal Government is fully committed to implementing policies that will promote Agriculture in Nigeria."
