The United States Diplomatic Mission Nigeria, Ambassador, Symington, has stressed that their only candidate in the upcoming February 2019 general elections is the process.
Mr Symington said "We want to see that process succeed". He made the aforementioned statement known to political reporters at the "Responsible Election Reporting" workshop which was held in Abuja.
During the workshop, INEC Information and Voter Education Chairman, Festus Okoye briefed journalists on the laws guiding elections reporting in Nigeria.
It was evidently reported that the workshop was led Premium times Editor-in-Chief, Mr. Musikilu Mojeed, Professor , College of Journalism and Mass Communication, University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Prof. Garry Kebbel and Voice of America news Aliyu Mustapha and Peter Clottey.
Last week, the embassy brought together 60 political reporters to discuss ethics, impartiality and safety in the practical workshop.
Finally, the reporters agreed on the importance of balanced and neural and non-defamatory coverage of the coming Nigeria elections.
