Good news for candidates, as Presidency subsidises the cost of form for NECO and Jamb.

The Presidency has decided to subsidise the fees of the National Examination Council, NECO, Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME, and Basic Education Certificate Examination, BECE.

This news was divulged by the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu at today's Federal Executive Council briefing held at the State Capital, Abuja.

Adamu said "President Buhari has directed the ministry to look into the reduction following the significant improvement in revenue being remitted to the treasury by the Education agencies.

The Examination agencies are not meant to be revenue generating bodies, they are only supposed to cover costs/operating expenses.

The sharp increase in remittances by Jamb (from less than #60million in 2010-2016 to #15billion in 2017/2018) have shown that the fees being charged could be reduced.

The cost of Jamb form has been dropped from #5000 to #3500 and that of NECO from #11350 to 8950.

This good news will serve as a boost to the less privileged candidates as they will perceive the cost as being affordable.

This new development is expected to take an immediate effect from January 2019.
