Lingard and Martial were forced off with muscle injuries before the second-half of United’s Champions League round-of-16 first leg defeat to Paris Saint-German at Old Trafford on Tuesday.
Sources have told the MEN their injuries are not long-term but both could be unavailable for the Chelsea tie at Stamford Bridge on Monday.
It is understood United are also concerned that if they were to rush Lingard and Martial back, they could aggravate their muscle problems and the pair are doubts for the visit of Liverpool on February 25.
With the absence of the star duo, this will give opportunity to Sanchez and Mata. Another poorly performing striker, Romelu Lukaku, has scored in six weeks and this has been an issue of utmost concern of the club.
United reserve winger, Gomez, is another option for the interim manager, he could have an opportunity due to the number of injured wingers of the club.
Another reserver superstar, Greenwood, who has scored 26 goals in 24 appearances for the club. He had been predicted to start alongside in-form star man, Rashford, in an FA Cup tie with Sarri's Chelsea.
The club fans are currently displeased by the injuries of the wing wizards but they hope the duo returns very soon, though they are a doubt for next week clash at Old Trafford against table toppers, Liverpool.
